Dr. Richards began his career as a family & emergency physician in 1979 with a 4-year tour in the US Army, then as a faculty member at the Medical College of Georgia until 1990. Dr. Richards, a serial entrepreneur, has pioneered concepts & products in pharma (mail order and office dispensing), healthcare delivery (ambulatory and home infusion), healthcare technology (predictive modeling AI), health promotion, disease prevention & management (nurse & dietician coaching), cost containment, managed care (Comprehensive Kidney Care™) and disaster management (real-time patient & resource tracking). Through his companies and their TPA, Reinsurance Stop Loss, MGU, self-funded employer and healthshare clients he has saved ERISA, Taft-Hartley, and healthshare plans more than half a billion dollars. He has also served as editor, associate editor, editorial board member and/or reviewer for several medical publications, and has authored 84 items for peer reviewed publications, 7 book chapters and 11 software programs. Dr. Richards earned Board certification in Family Medicine, Medical Management, Quality Assurance & Utilization Review, and a Masters in Medical Management at Carnegie Mellon University.
